About Us The mission of the UMFF is to
The United Methodist Frontier Foundation was formed in 2005 as a consolidation of the New York-Connecticut Foundation and the United Methodist Church Foundation of the New York West Area. In 2004, these predecessor foundations paid out over $1,600,000 to or on behalf of four hundred organizations. Today, we distribute $2.5–3 million each year to over four hundred fifty organizations including local churches, conferences and conference agencies. We administer sixty Charitable Gift Annuities and paid out nearly $150,000 annually to annuitants and final beneficiaries. We also make available specific information and resources regarding the importance of wills and related matters, such as health care proxies. Our investment goal, realized over the last several years, is to provide a yield that equals or surpasses the Standard and Poor's 500 Index and The Lehman Brothers Intermediate Government/Corporate Bond Index. In order to comply with the United Methodist Social Principles, all Foundation investments meet the requirements of the General Board of Pensions social screens. In addition, securities must meet the investment criteria of our professional fund managers, John G. Ullman and Associates. Even during the economic downturn of 2008, our equity funds outperformed our marker indices by a wide margin.
